Card-a-Monday, Episode 1: Johny Alpha
Welcome to Card-a-Monday, our brand-new series where every Monday we'll showcase one of our favorite cards from the game, diving deep into its abilities, combos, and synergies. We'll explore how these cards can work together to create powerful strategies, giving you tips and tricks to maximize their potential. The first to enter is...
Johny Alpha (3/6, Uncommon)
This buff blond guy loves only three things in the world – Elvis, Placki, and himself. You’ll find two of those three things in our game. Johny is the epitome of self-confidence – the kind of guy who never misses a chance to flex his biceps in front of every mirror. And in Millennials, the size of this biceps doubles every time Placki enters the game.
Johny was the first card in our prototype to use a support card – when played, he shuffles a (0/0) Placki card into the player’s deck (we call a card a support card when you cannot acquire it from the market; playing Johny is the only way to get Placki). When Placki enters the table, it doubles the power of all Johnys in the game (even those the player doesn’t control!). This means playing two Johnys gives you two Placki, and playing those Placki will quadruple the power of all Johnys.
Synergies
Cards that repeat Once:
- GacMyver (6/8, Uncommon, Once: Repeat all your revealed Once cards)
- Poker (5/0, Villain, Once: Repeat all your revealed Once cards)
- Matt (2/2, Uncommon, Once: Move a Once from here to the middle location, replay its action)
- Grave Digger (4/7, Uncommon, Once: Repeat and trash other Once cards here)
These cards, when used with Johny, will shuffle more Placki into your deck (more Placki means bigger bonuses for every Johny!). And when they are played in the same location where you already got Placki, they will once again increase the power bonus of all Johnys. Three Placki played on the last turn in one location with GacMyver is my favorite ultimate combo (each Johny then has 384 power without additional boosts!).
Captain Planer (4/4, Common, Once: Duplicate your hand)
Using Planer, you can increase the number of Johnys or Placki in your hand. Since Placki costs 0, you can play them almost every turn, as long as there’s still room in the locations.
Fill With Clones (Location)
This location can clone Johny up to four times, which will give you 4 copies of Placki. Playing all four will increase the power of out 4 cloned Johnys 16-fold (each having 96 power)! All that with just a single Johny in your deck.
Any ideas for more synergies with Johny Alpha?
Millennials
Create powerful synergies with only 12 cards in your deck.
